AIG Tightens Risk Controls

In the Wall Street Journal on September 15, 2010 it states,” As American International Group Inc. gets closer to becoming an independent company again, it is making risk-management changes internally to make sure it can stay one.

Over the past year, the government-controlled insurer has been working to address weaknesses in its risk management and monitoring that played a key role in its near-collapse in 2008. Since its bailout, AIG has hired some new risk officers, and its top executives are trying to bring about a cultural change in the way employees think about risk and growth within the giant organization.”
